LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central leader Aitzaz Ahsan has said if Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s stance is accepted, then smugglers can also present a Qatari letter in the court to plead their innocence.
“PM Nawaz Sharif’s stance cannot be accepted nor should the court accept his plea. If the court accepts this explanation then it can create a financial chaos in the country. If PM’s stance is accepted then smugglers will bring a Qatari letter to the court and get away with everything,” he said this while talking to media on Saturday after casting his vote in the Lahore High Court Bar Association polls.
He held that the Supreme Court (SC) has to decide the Panama case. However, Nawaz Sharif had admitted to be the owner of Sharif family’s London flats. SC should have summoned Nawaz and should have questioned him about London flats.
He observed that Qatar, Iran and UAE’s letters can slide the country into financial chaos. The renowned barrister went on to say that it clear that Nawaz Sharif and his children own properties abroad, adding that these properties have been purchased through money plundered from the country.
Regarding the court’s remarks that NAB has died before “us” he said that this is an unfortunate thing. SC should have revived ‘dead NAB’, he added.
If Pakistan Super League final does not take place in Lahore then it will be considered failure of the government, he underlined.
