DADU: Sindh University Dadu campus Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Anwar Ali Shah G Syed has advised students and youth to become entrepreneurs and establish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), encouraging them to be employers rather than being employees. He made the remarks in an interview on China-Pakistan Economy Corridor (CPEC), SMEs, entrepreneurship, education and trade between Pakistan and other countries.
Replying to a question, he said that through CPEC, trade will be developed between Pakistan and other countries of world; which will support and boost the economy of Pakistan.
CPEC is a game changer and will bring prosperity to the country, he said, adding that railways, energy, and roads infrastructure will be improved which will boost the economy of the country. He said that relations of Pakistani government and people will strengthen with neighbouring countries.
Stressing on quality education, he urged teaching faculties to focus on the quality of education in universities of Sindh and Pakistan in the private and public sectors. He said that through quality education, students will earn name and fame not only in Pakistan but also abroad. He said that there was a need to increase quality of education with latest techniques. He advised students pay attention on research, saying that research based study will make them successful.
Talking about Sindh University Dadu campus, he said that he was paying attention to quality education, especially on girls’ education. He said he had been actively establishing policies to promote girls’ education.
Dr Anwar Ali Shah G Syed did an MBA from one of the leading business schools of UK, University of Leeds, in 1984, and a PhD from Cardiff Business School in 1989. Dr Shah has more than 35 years of teaching/research experience.
He has published more than 300 research papers/international and national conference proceedings which include: 97 research papers published in various national and international journals, 190 international conference proceedings, 8 national conference proceedings and more than 100 HEC recognised research papers. His research papers have been published in various journals including: Australian Journal of Business Management Research (AJBMR); Journal of Business Management (IJBM) Canada; Asian Social Sciences Canada; Journal of Applied Modern Sciences (Index by Scorpus); Asian Journal of History Canada; International Journal of Marketing Studies Canada, International Journal of Economics and Finance Canada; International Journal of Business Research Journal of Agriculture Sciences, Canada; Journal of Sustainable Development Canada; Journal of Business Strategies; Research Journal of Faculty of Social Sciences; and Asian Journal of Business Management Science.
Dr Shah has presented 190 research papers in local and international conferences. He has received seven best paper awards from US and UK.
He was awarded best paper award on “Sustainable Rural Development and its Impact on Development of Rural Sindh”, contributed in Maui International Applied Business Research Conference held in 2011.
He received best paper award on his paper titled: “Predicting Teachers Academic Excellence through Student’s Evaluation, A Case study of Pakistan”, contributed in Global Academy of Business and Economic Research.
Dr Shah got the best paper award of paper titled: “Domestic Violence Against Women: A Case Study of Shikarpur Sindh-Pakistan”, in the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines (IABPAD) Conference, in 2012.
He got best paper award on “Impact of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on Economy of Pakistan”, at International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines (IABPAD) Conference in 2012.
He got the best paper award of paper titled: “The HR Challenges in Tourism Industry in Pakistan: A Case Study of Gorakh Hill-Dadu-Sindh”, at the Global Human Resource Management Symposium in 2013, organised by University of Riverside, California.
Dr Shah got the best paper award on paper titled: “Global Issues in Textile Industry of Pakistan”, in Conference on Finance and Risk Perspectives at Cambridge in November 2013.
He was awarded “The Luminaries of the Land 2009” by South Asia Publications during Star Awards 2009 Ceremony on December 25, 2010 at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad.
He was awarded “Certificate of Recognition 2010” for being master trainer of National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) Evaluators Training Programme, by NBEAC Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.
He was awarded Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah Trophy Award 2009 in recognition of his services in the field of education by the Sindh Graduates Association Karachi on October 10, 2009.
He was awarded gold medal in recognition of his services in the field of education by University of Sindh in 1997-98.
He was awarded silver medal by the University of Sindh in 1997-98 for securing first position in LL.B. in the year 1979.
Dr Shah hosted first international conference on business, economics and information technology in 2013. He hosted first Youth Entrepreneur Festival in 2013 to motivate students to become entrepreneur and employers, rather than being employees.
He is a member of National Business Education Accreditation Council and National Curriculum Committee in Business Administration and Commerce HEC Pakistan.
Dr Shah is founder pro-vice chancellor, Sindh University Dadu campus; founder pro-vice chancellor, Sindh University Larkana campus; and founder director of Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur (affiliated with IBA-Karachi) from 1996 to 1998.
He served as University of Sindh Jamshoro Business Administration director from May, 1993 to June, 2003.
He served as University of Sindh Jamshoro Faculty of Business Administration dean for more than 8 years, from July 2003 to August 2011.
