An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday indicted as many as 57 people in Mashal Khan murder case in Haripur. The accused had pled not guilty.
According to details, the arrested men were presented before the court within the Haripur central jail where they were formally indicted. The hearing is to take place in prison regularly from Wednesday.
Both prosecution and the defence will begin their arguments on Wednesday when Mashal’s father Iqbal Khan will also be appearing.
Mashal Khan was savagely shot at, dragged, thrown and lynched to death by an angry vigilante mob that accused him to have committed blasphemy, an accusation which the investigators later admitted had no foundation.
Mashal was a student of Abdul Khan Wali University (AKWU) in Mardan and his brutal murder on campus had sent shock waves across the country and abroad.
