KARACHI: Union councilor of UC-26 of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan was killed by unknown persons on Friday in Orangi Town.
As per police report, Anees Siddiqui was shot dead in his house in Turi Bangash Colony by unidentified persons who fled the crime scene.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) District West Omer Shahid Hamid stated that Siddiqui was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed hospital by the police in critical condition due to a bullet wound in the chest, where he surrendered to death.
SSP Hamid said that a case has been registered on grounds of discovered evidence, bullet shells of a 30-bore pistol from the crime scene. The shells have been sent to the forensic division of Sindh Police for inspection.
He added that investigation has been launched, but the police suspect it to be a targeted killing. However, all other possibilities will be under consideration.
MQM-P leaders Amir Khan and Farooq Sattar while condemning the killing demanded from the police, a quick inquiry following the arrest of the perpetrators as soon as possible.
